Legacy Film Festival kicks off with a screening of the internationally acclaimed and multi-award winning feature ‘My Nappy Roots’. Q&A’s with director Regina Kimbrell and an exciting and special one off performance by spoken word artists from the Snakes & Ladders production.


A night that will take you on a journey through Black Hair-itage and give you an introduction to the first ever International Black Hair-itage Month


The Journey takes an unparralled look at how Black hair is used as a prism through which to look at cultural, societal, and political issues in the African American community. It will take you on a ride through the significance of African hair prior to slavery,it's significance within the US power struggle, the first Black entrepreneurs, it's influence on cultural images, aesthetics and behaviour of Black Americans and bring you up to the multi-billion dollar industry that exists today and includes; Vivica A. Fox, Patti LaBelle, Ella Joyce and Malcolm-Jamal Warner to name a few
